Can you keep a secrete without telling a lie?

Oaths of offices; Many different organizations require them. Even the United States officials must take them. In a free and open society, with free flow of information, can a firm, even ones based off transparency, hold true to being honest while holding the organization together by oaths if said firm has secretes that need to be withheld?

Hard to say, if you haven't been in that situation, I can see how it is problematic. When it comes to the defense against intruders, ease-droppers per-say, on the society, where secretes must be withheld.

A sacrifice must be made; to hold up the oath or to keep the society free to the information.
